Swimming on top of the Seine River

It was a HOT HOT HOT day out today! I started off by going to SNCF to pick up my train tickets to the South of France for next weekend. My family is coming to visit and we're going to the South of France! I can't wait!!!

Afterwards, I headed to Bibliotech Francois Mitterland, which is France's National Library. It was huge and looked really modern compared to the other parts of Paris that I've seen.

Then I went to spend the day at the Piscine Josephine Baker, which is a floating pool on top of the Seine River. I had to wait over an hour in the SCORCHING 98 degree weather heat! I was supposed to go yesterday, but my friends said the lines were really long so I thought today would be better since it was a weekday, but nope! I really didn't want to wait, but I was already there and I really wanted to check it out so I sucked it up sweating to death and probably lost all my water weight just waiting and waiting and waiting, but I guess it was worth it in the end! I finally got to go in and enjoy 2 hours of it for 5 euros. If I wanted to stay longer I'd have to pay another 5 euros! Oh and you also had to get a swimming cap if you wanted to swim in the pool. It was really nice and clean. As soon as you entered there was this pool of water for you to wash your feet in, then you pass through the locker room and then the shower room where you rinse off before entering into the pool deck. Once I got through I made a bee line to the pool! I couldn't wait to jump in!!! I did a few laps and just chilled in the pool and then did a lil' sun bathing. There was this huge pool and then a few lines sectioned off for people to do laps. There was also a mini-pool for kids and a wading pool to just lie down and sunbathe in. Up top is the solarium deck. I honestly don't know how people just sat there sunbathing in the heat, I would have died. It's funny, most of the guys there wore speedos or these tiny swim trunks. Not like the US wearing their baggy swim shorts! Also, some of the women on the roof deck sunbathed topless, which I guess isn't surprising since it's France! I think there is also a sauna and exercise room somewhere in the facility. It was really fun and relaxing until obnoxious teenagers came by jumping and splashing like crazy and annoying all the other people there. But there were life guards on duty to try to control things. The pool made me think of my bday parties I had at Hotel Indigo. It made me wish I could have all my friends with me again for my bday and have a pool party here!!! How fun would that be?!!!!

On my way home, I passed by the Bridge, Passerelle Simone-de-Beauvoir, which was named after a famous French philosopher. It had a very interesting design and it bridges the 12th and 13th arrondisments of Paris across the Seine River.

I was tired after being in the sun all day so I just went home and rested for a bit before going to the market to get some stuff. I wanted to make Michel dinner since he's always making me dinner, so I had the idea of making a salad since it was so hot out. When I got back, Michel had the same idea too! We both got pretty much the same things at the market! So we made dinner together again and had a really yummy dinner! We had a Cindy and Michel salad creation of mixed greens, tomatos, mozzarella, crawfish, prosciutto, salami, tiny pickle thingies, artichoke hearts, capers, and roasted red peppers. I also got an assortment of cheeses and baguette and some Moscato wine. :) After dinner we had some oranges and vanilla ice cream cones with fudge and nuts for dessert and an after dinner drink of rum!

It was actually really nice to be back home early and just relax for a change. I feel like I'm always out and about trying to enjoy Paris, but sometimes it's just nice to enjoy some time just doing nothing! It felt so great just sitting on the couch and eating yummy food, while watching tv and hanging out with Michel.

Back to work tomorrow, so I guess I should head to bed. It's going to be a busy week and weekend with all my visitors coming and me moving to Trocadero! Bonne nuit! Bisous Bisous! oxox :)
