Paris really is a beautiful city. I'm really lucky to be working in such a nice area of Paris. I always try to get out as much as I can during my lunch break to enjoy the weather and the beautiful scenery.
The past few days, I walked over to the lawn by the Louvre and the Jardin de Tuilleries for my lunch break to just sit and relax.
Wednesday night, Carol came to meet me by my work. We just had some tea at the cafe and caught up since the last time we saw each other. She is really such a sweet girl and trying really hard to find a job in fashion here. Hopefully she will soon! But she gave me some tips on how to get a work visa here, so maybe I'll try to get one if things goes as planned.
Then Thursday night, Linda had invited me to her friend's dinner party. It was my first French dinner party on this trip. It's definitely one of those infamous French parties that last forever! I got there a little before 9pm and we didn't start eating til like 10pm. It was really nice meeting such an eclectic group of people! There were some Boston people and of course French, but we all had such an international background that it was really cool! Pretty much all of us had spent time abroad numerous times in different countries to just immerse ourselves in a new culture. Some have also lived in Indonesia, The US, France, Germany, Scotland, Abu Dhabi, etc. Linda's friend Alfred was our host. His apartment was soooo cool! He had so many things he's collected from soooo many different countries. He had recently gone to Cuba for a sailing trip and brought back some Cuban cigars that we all got to smell. They did smell pretty nice! :)
I didn't take any pics cuz I didn't feel comfy disturbing the vibe and everything, but it was really cool. Alfred made some punch for us and also there were some aperitifs with some dips and chips, nuts, etc. Then he served us an appetizer of this baked orange that he sliced the top off and filled with shrimp and creme fraiche. It was really good! I never had anything like that before. Then he served us the entree dish of a seafood fish pasta that was also pretty good. Lastly, we had dessert that Linda's friend Grace made. She made a banana bread with chocolate chips! Also very yummy and that was served with cantaloupe. There was lots of wine and great conversation! One of the French girls was giving me a tutorial French lesson too!
This isn't a pic of the actual dinner party I went to, but it's similar I suppose except our party was held indoors. :)
During the dinner party, we found out that it was also White Night that night! This is an exclusive invite only party where everyone dresses up in white and you bring your own table and chairs. You get all prepared for it and wait for the mass text on where the location will be. One year it was held at the Champs Elysee and at the Arc de Triumph. I'm not sure where this year's location was held, but I definitely saw lots of people coming back from it on my way home. This is a picture of what a White Party in Paris looks like:
Tonight, Miina and I went to this Alsace fair near where we work after we got out of work. It was right at this little square by the Louvre. We went to every booth to see what goodies they had. We got some wine, munster cheese, ham, and onion tart (like a pizza), and macarons. There were bands playing on stage and people were dancing. It was pretty cool and relaxing!
Earlier in the day, during my lunch break I did some quick window shopping on Rue St. Honore, which is kinda like a Newbury St. Has really nice high end stores like Roberto Cavalli, Gucci, etc. I stopped by this really popular concept store that reminded me of the one I did freelance work at in Florence back in 2004 (ethic). This one in Paris is called Colette. They had a big sale this week so there were lots of people at the store, but everything was still pretty expensive. I wasn't allowed to take pics in the store, but it's def a great place to check out some visual merchandising and some realllllly awesome clothes, books, electronics, vinyls, etc. They even had a cafe downstairs.
I also went to Chanel on Rue Cambon. It was a really nice store and had such beautiful clothes and bags and everything!!!!!
Michel comes back this weekend so I have lots of cleaning up to do before he gets back haha...don't have any big plans this weekend, so I guess I'll just have to wait and see! Bonne nuit! Bisous Bisous! oxox :)
