These past few days have been soooo much fun! Got to really enjoy the best parts of Paris for the summer!
Tuesday was the first day of summer and Music Fest day! David had told me about it the day before and he showed me the schedule of what's happening in every district of Paris. He told me to be careful because it can really get out of hand especially since people from the suburbs go to Paris and go crazy!
Carol and I had met up for lunch and went to this cafe on Rue St. Honore that was way overpriced and honestly wasn't anything special and the service wasn't great either. I got a chicken sandwich with some fries and some juice.
When I got back to work, I had to help prepare the boutique for the start of the Big Sales in Paris. Signs are all over Paris and people get sooo excited! I was supposed to have Wednesday off (when the day of the sales start), but Veronique wanted to see if I could switch my day off. I thought about it and got myself a long weekend so I said sure even though I really wanted to do some shopping! :)
After work, Carol and I met up again and we went to Champs Elysees to meet up with Simona and Surin for Music Fest. We wanted to go to the Grand Palais to the Electronica Fest, but we couldn't get in so we went to Abbesses near Montmartre. It was actually a lot of fun and we walked all over the place and every corner had a DJ playing at a restaurant! Or you could hear jazz, classical, latino, r&b, hip hop, reggae and more! Paris was one big club! People young and old were all enjoying the night! I even saw an old Chinese man dancing to House music! haha It was awesome! I had soooo much fun! We got beer and sausages on the street and danced the night away!!! You could also see people drinking out of wine bottles or hard liquor bottles and smoking pot and just getting wild! David was right..the later it got the crazier it got!
Since I had to work the next day, I didn't stay out all night. Plus I was starting to get annoyed with the young crazy kids pushing and shoving and getting violent so it was my cue to go home! When I got home, I was surprised to see that I got a message on my UK phone from Calvin, my friend from Boston College. It was so nice to hear from an old friend, but too bad I didn't get the message in time since he was only in town for the day and wanted to hang out, but we're gonna try to meet up another time either in Paris or London. I was hoping to find a good deal to London for this weekend, but it's so expensive still! :( And then I got another nice surprise that my friend Adrian from Switzerland will be visiting me in Boston end of September! Yeah!!! :)
I'm glad I ended up switching days off because Wednesday wasn't as crazy as I thought it would be. It was actually fun! When I got to work, all of us were trying on clothes and shoes at the boutique and setting aside everything we wanted to buy. I'm debating if I should buy these gold sandals from Halston Heritage. They are really nice, but still expensive...but they are Halston Heritage!!!
Veronique, Elisa and Lillian are now asking me to alter stuff on my own for their clients! I'm happy they feel confident in my abilities to do that! But I still check with Marion to make sure I'm doing the right thing. She also taught me how to make a veil and let me do one! It's actually pretty simple!
I also finally got to check out the Louvre de Antiquarie. It was really nice and like walking into a museum. So much beautiful works of art and history! I really fell in love with this beautiful piano! If I had the money, I would totally buy this for my future home! haha
After work, I met up with Michel and we ended up going to his college friends' wine and cheese party. I am reallllllly loving the French culture of these mid week dinner or wine and cheese parties. They start kind of late and end late and are filled with lots of conversation and of course food. Everyone was really nice! I couldn't understand everything, but what I do know how to do is eat and drink so I spent the whole night stuffing my face haha Oh and of course, I learned some more French words....mainly swears hehe
We ate 11 different kinds of French cheese! All were sooooo delicious! I'm glad I got to try all of them since they are hard to find in the States, if they are even sold there at all! We ate some aperitifs first and then had an assortment of baguettes and some homemade chutney to go with the cheese.
I got to bring home a baguette from the party and I felt so French! Cuz you'll always see people carrying baguettes around Paris!
Today was pretty low key. I was just really excited that Marion told me to bring her my CV (resume) so that she will help me translate it into French and also pass it along to anyone she knows hiring in Paris or needs help for any haute couture Fashion shows for Fashion Week. :) I know it's a slim chance, but I'll take any chance!
I got to try to some Finnish candies and chocolate that Miina's sister brought over from Finland. I always like trying stuff from different countries so that's cool that she brought them in. :)
Miina and I also got to go to lunch together so we went for some Japanese since it's the cheapest and best food in our area of where we work. The kitsune udon noodles I got were yummy, but I wish I got more of it! I was still hungry!
When I got home, Michel was home early again and he helped me and my sis book our tickets to Avignon. I'm really excited for my family to visit! We're going to the South of France, but unfortunately I can't stay longer cuz I have to go back to work. As we were looking for train tickets for me to come back to Paris, it would be cheaper if I left the day after I was originally planning to. My sister already booked the hostel and I'm not sure if they can sneak me in, but worse case I will spend my birthday sleeping in the car haha....should be interesting! It'll be fun though, but exhausting! On the day of my birthday, I will be going on a 5:30am train from Cassis to Marseilles and then to Paris. I won't get back to Paris until 9:30am and will probably head straight to work for the whole day! I hope it'll be an easy day!!!
After that was all taken care of, Michel made a simple, but fancy and delicious dinner for us! It was one of my favorite! Caprese salad and he added some prosciutto and some pickles and capers. I call him St. Michel because he is such an awesome host and friend!
I really wanted to go away for the weekend to somewhere fun, but it sux that I can't find any great deals last minute! Oh well...I guess I'll just stick with my original plan and try to hurry and plan my trips in August instead. So maybe I'll try to see some more museums and great sites of Paris! Michel was telling me to go check out Normandy or Strasbourg, which are great day trips and I still have to go see Versailles!
One more day of work til the weekend! Yeah!!!!! Bonne nuit! Bisous Bisous! oxox :)
